Detailed presentation of Niacinamide
Niacinamide, also known as vitamin B3, is one of the most versatile and popular active ingredients in the world of Korean skincare. It is widely used in serums, creams, and tonics because it is a gentle yet highly effective ingredient that can benefit all skin types.
What is niacinamide good for?
- Oil control effect: Helps reduce excessive oil production, mattifies the skin, and refines enlarged pores.
- Fading pigment spots and discolorations: Inhibits melanin production, resulting in a more even skin tone.
- Reduces inflammation and treats acne: Soothes redness and helps prevent acne formation due to its antibacterial properties.
- Strengthens the skin barrier: Increases the skin’s moisture retention, prevents water loss, and contributes to a hydrated, firm skin feel.
- Anti-aging effect: Stimulates collagen production, helping to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
How to use niacinamide:
- Start with a low concentration (2–5%), especially for sensitive skin. Higher concentrations (10%+) are recommended only with gradual introduction.
- Introduce gradually – use 2–3 times a week at first, then increase frequency.
- Can be combined well with other active ingredients (e.g., hyaluronic acid, salicylic acid, vitamin C), but watch for possible interactions.
